Raingutter Regatta & Pack Meeting

Our November pack meeting this year will be.....the great Raingutter Regatta!  It will be held on Sunday afternoon, 11/13/2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church towards the back of the field near the pavilion.

We will be checking in boats and building out the race brackets from 3:00-3:30, so make sure you are on time. Late arrivals are not guaranteed entry into the races.  We'll begin the races as close to 3:30 pm as possible.

We will be handing out the raingutter regatta boats at the October pack meeting this Sunday.  If you can't make it and are still in need of a boat, please reach out to your den leader and the pack can provide one for you.  You may need to come pick it up, however.  If you end up with a boat that is missing pieces, please DO NOT THROW IT AWAY and instead return it to the pack the next time you have a chance (this does happen occasionally).  We can combine kits/pieces so we aren't wasting anything.

All boats must be built ahead of time. We will allow for adjustments during the check in window, but we will not be building boats Sunday afternoon.  I'm attaching the official rules to this email to help with building.

PRO TIP #1:  While officially allowed by the rules, we recommend that you do not glue the sail to the mast. This has caused some issues in the past because low water levels left the sail scraping the raingutter and slowing down or even stopping the boat during the races.  We'll do our best to correct issues like this but it may be better to avoid using the glue.

PRO TIP #2: We recommend avoiding the use of high gloss paint as it tends to stick to the sides of the gutters during the race, slowing the boat down.
